TESOL means Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages.
We are TESOL International affiliate, and have been in Costa Rica for 50 years.

  • 2004: Caribbean and Central American TESOL Convention at Universidad Metodista.
  • 2005: Annual Convention at Universidad de La Salle: “New Paradigms in Learning How to Teach and Teaching How to Learn.”
  • 2006: Annual Convention at Universidad de La Salle: “Costa Rican Standards for a Bilingual Society: Modern Teaching Techniques for a Challenging World.”
  • 2007: “Annual Convention at Universidad de La Salle: “Special Curriculum: Inclusion of Students with Sensory and Cognitive Disabilities in the Language Class.”
  • 2008: “Annual Convention at UNED: “Global Challenges: Empowerment in Teaching English Innovations.
  • 2009: “How to Learn a Language Successfully through the Connection of Listening and Speaking.”

Objectives

  • To offer training to the professionals in the field of teaching English.
  • Supporting professionals legally.
  • Representing teachers with the Ministry of Education and other associations.
  • Looking for opportunities to improve English for ITS members.
  • Looking for exchanges and scholarships abroad.
  • Producing helpful materials for our members.
  • Planning the Annual Convention.
  • Registering more members every month.
  • Preparing teachers for the TOEIC Test.

Achievements

  • Legal support to help teachers achieve higher academic accreditation (Bachelor degree to teachers-Universidad Nacional 1977).
  • Different courses offered by the association: Conversational, Interactive, and for the Proficiency Test (TOEFL and TOEIC.)
  • Design of the Record Grade CD.
  • Representation in the board of Members of the UNESCO Executive Committee.
